Namesake

*Enter my first giveaway here! Open until October 31st 2012*

I'm not one of those people who has a popular name that ends up on keyrings and mugs, in fact, my name never ends up on any sort of merchandise (not that I think I'd feel the need to buy a keyring with my name on it anyway). But keyrings and mugs aside, you can imagine my excitement when I realised that Zoya had a polish named after me. Well, not named after me as such, but we share the same name, and so I had to buy it for novelty's sake. It's been sitting on my rack untried for months. Until now...

This is Zoya's 'Anthea'. It's the only Zoya polish I own. I can't say that the colour is particularly 'me', but this was an impulse buy and I have to admit I don't have anything like it. It's a red colour that leans towards pink and has an orange undertone (complex right?). It also has a lovely pearlescent gold shimmer through it. Since my name means 'flower' I've stamped some flowers over the top from Konad plate m83. To be honest, I just felt like doing some stamping. Sounds more interesting when there's a story behind the design though right? :p

I'll admit I'm not at all happy with how this turned out, my stamping skills still need some practice and it's much less intricate than most of my nail art. Just to top things off, my new bottle of top coat streaked the stamping terribly. Guess you can't win them all.

Have you ever bought something you didn't need just because it had your name on it, or held novelty value for you?

  1. My name 'Julienne' is really really rare! So I haven't ever found ANYTHING with my name on it, with the exception of cooking products and tins of Julienne carrots in the supermarket *sigh*. I'm so happy for you that you have a NAIL POLISH that shares your name! That's awesome, and I love the colour too!

    1. It's hard having a rare name, I bet you get lots of miss-spells. I'm constantly called Andrea or Anthony. I've just learnt to respond to anything that start with an 'A' haha.

  2. My name is Kaloyana and I havn't ever buy something with my name, cose I haven't ever find a thing called after my name. I'm constantly called Kiki, to shorten my name, and I'm thinking about buying Zoya Kiki, nomether that it's pink isn't exactly my kind of pink.
So good for you to find something with your name :)

    1. Kiki is really cute though! My name just gets shortened to 'Ant', which isn't so cute when you consider that it's an insect haha.

  3. I very rarely find anything with my name on it. It's a common name but with 1 letter not as common. It's been a long time since I've looked at stuff like that so I don't know if that's changed any.

Anthea is a pretty name and that's a pretty color!

    1. Thanks. Everyone always says it's pretty. I've had a love/hate relationship with it just because of all the mispronunciations I get!
